About Neil Wilkie.
From the Boardroom to the Therapy Room.
Neil believes that one of the greatest gifts in life is a loving and fulfilling relationship with another person.
My Story
I spent fifty years in business. I was CEO and Managing Director of multiple companies. I led fourteen management buyouts and raised over £500 million in funding. I built teams, navigated crises, negotiated deals, and learned – sometimes the hard way – what makes organisations work and what makes them fail.
Then, at fifty, I made a change that surprised everyone, including myself. I retrained as a relationship therapist.
What prompted this? Partly a growing sense that the business challenges I’d spent decades grappling with were, at their heart, relationship challenges. Trust. Communication. Conflict. Alignment. The same dynamics that make marriages thrive or struggle were playing out in every boardroom I’d sat in.
And partly a desire to help people in a more direct, human way – to sit with couples in their pain and possibility, and to make a difference in the relationships that matter most to them.
Developing the Duo Coaching Framework
As I trained and began practicing as a couples therapist, I found myself questioning the conventional approach. Why fifty minutes? Why one therapist? Why the endless drift of open-ended therapy without clear goals?
Drawing on my business experience – where results matter, where you resource challenges properly, where you measure progress – I developed a different model. Two therapists. Extended sessions. A structured framework. Clear outcomes.
The Duo Coaching Framework and the Relationship Paradigm emerged from this work: a comprehensive approach to understanding and transforming relationships that I’ve now used with hundreds of couples and am teaching to other practitioners.

Beyond Work
Together we sail along the French coast on our boat Moon River – which, it turns out, is an excellent context for thinking about relationships.
When I’m not working or sailing, you’ll find me cycling, writing, or travelling to interesting places.
My Purpose
My Mission is to impact an improve ten million relationships around the world in this decade.
That’s an ambitious goal – and I know I can’t do it alone.
That’s why I write books, train practitioners, speak to organisations, and work directly with couples.
Every conversation, every session, every person who learns this approach and takes it into their own work – it all contributes to that larger vision.
Relationships shape everything. When we get them right, everything else follows.
